The Who’s Who of Paragon
The Best Crew Around

Our greatest asset, without a doubt, is the exceptional group of people who build for us. All of our skilled labour is hired through IATSE Local 828 Prop Makers and Scenic Artists. The local covers the entire province of Ontario, and allows us to draw on the artistic and technical talent pool that exists in the heart of Canada ’s world-class cultural and entertainment community.

Our Fearless Leader

Peter May
Owner and President

Peter started Paragon in November of 2000 to be the entertainment industry equivalent to his already successful custom-fabrication company, Research Casting International, a world-renowned museum exhibit fabricator that specializes in the molding, casting and mounting of dinosaur skeletons. Whether the products of his companies are for education or entertainment, Peter inspires all of the employees with his passion for high-quality craftsmanship and appreciation for art.

The A-Team

Grace Nakatsu
Art Direction and Construction Management, Ext 222

Considered to be one of the best prop builders in Canada, she moves easily between the worlds of design and management, striving to maintain the delicate balance between design and budget, providing innovative solutions so that neither area has to compromise. Grace oversees all of our projects, providing artistic and technical guidance to the crew and always with an eye on the overall look of the project.

Bill Penner
Production Supervisor, Ext 223

An experienced manager and a talented builder, he has worked in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years in a number of areas including fabrication, production management, administration, education, facility management and building operations. Aside from managing our facility and projects, Bill is the go-to man for prototyping, special effects, electrical and mechanical props.

Lisa McKay
Client Relations and Marketing, Ext 228

Lisa represents the client to the shop, and the shop to the client, ensuring that the client is happy before, during and after their project. Detail-oriented and fiercely organized, she understands what’s important to our clients -- making sure we are listening to what they’re saying, keeping up communication, anticipating their needs and exceeding their expectations. Lisa also manages Paragon’s marketing program.
